今年的“三伏天”，7月12日至7月21日為“初伏”，7月22日至8月10日為“中伏”，8月11日至8月20日為“末伏”，共計40天。

據(jù)說三伏天的起源可追溯到戰(zhàn)國時期，這個說法古來有之，那國外怎么稱呼這段酷暑難耐的日子呢？

你沒看錯，dog days可譯作狗日、犬日，指的就是夏天中最熱的時期，即我們所說的三伏。

The dog days or dog days of summer are the hot, sultry days of summer.

這個說法源自拉丁語diēs caniculārēs，這個詞與大犬座的天狼星相關(guān)，在英語中又被稱作犬星（Dog Star）。

天狼星在7月至8月時出現(xiàn)在北半球的天空上，正當(dāng)夏天最熱的時期，古羅馬人認為這個星星帶來了這個時期的暑熱，故而有了這個說法。
